The all out anthropogenic assault against planet Earth continues to decimate the entire web of life. From the ongoing climate engineering insanity to the completely out of control military “exercises” that are killing countless life forms in what is yet left of our once thriving oceans, collapse will come soon on the current course. Global temperatures are skyrocketing and shattering all former records. Deadly heat and record drought in India are wreaking havoc on the population and it is only April, the hottest months of the year are yet to come. Climate engineering is nothing less than weather warfare, and it is playing a massive part in the unfolding climate chaos (though there are countless other contributing anthropogenic factors). Why is such a large percentage of the population so willing to completely ignore the insanity? Because they are in one way or another invested in the very companies helping to create it.

True solace can only exist in facing reality head-on. It can only exist in fully embracing one’s responsibility to the whole, to our children, and to the greater good. We must all stand together and make our voices heard, we can yet alter the outcome of what is unfolding.

Can I really believe what I just heard?

Can the Jew-controlled U.S. actually stop waging wars?

CAN A NATION OF KILLERS EVER REALLY TALK ABOUT PEACE?

by John Kaminski

I was astonished. For a moment the words seemed like an auditory mirage I was hearing in a dream. But there they were. I could play them back. In his speech at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington April 27, Donald Trump was saying he wanted to get along with Russia and China.

“Our goal is peace and prosperity,” Trump announced with finality, “not death and destruction.”

It was a thought I hadn’t heard expressed by any politician in . . . how long? Ever?

I immediately thought of Richard Nixon’s campaign promise of a secret plan to end the Vietnam war, a promise that he didn’t keep and a plan he did not have that nevertheless won him the 1968 presidential election.

I searched back in my memory for a candidate who talked of peace rather than bludgeoning a designated enemy.

Nixon mouthed friendly platitudes when he opened up communication with Communist China. And that was back in the early 1970s. Since then? Well, Bill Clinton illegally took campaign contributions from China back in the early ’90s. But that was when such contributions were against the law, and the law was still actually enforced, more or less.

Now Hillary Clinton goes directly to Israel to collect contributions, much in the way Mitt Romney did in the last election. It might still be against the law, but all Americans — everybody in the world, in fact — knows by now that politicians are never prosecuted for accepting illegal campaign contributions.

Heck, politicians are only in rare instances ever prosecuted for breaking the law at all, and those who actually are prosecuted are usually innocent, like Jim Traficant <http://www.americanussr.com/american-ussr-james-traficant.htm> and George Hansen <http://www.uhuh.com/reports/hansen/hansen2.htm>. Politicians have to have done something to offend the bankers’ cabal to even get noticed for committing a crime.

Thunderstorm hits Microsoft’s Windows 10 nagware

live_tv_windows_10by

Microsoft’s Windows 10 nagware is making a public idiot of the company and rendering the software customers have paid for unfit for the purpose.

The latest public humiliation of the company happened during a live TV weather forecast. Instead of the weather map that the television station KCCI wanted, the screen was full of a demand that meteorologist Metinka Slater upgrade to Windows 10 immediately.

Slater was busy trying to warn the good and the bad citizens of Iowa about thunderstorms rolling through Iowa, which was a little more important than a software upgrade.

“Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 10. Gosh, what should I do?” Slater asked the viewing public.  Upgrading to Linux instead perhaps? Certainly a TV company can’t risk being seen as being that unprofessional ever again.

Microsoft is increasingly alienating people from its Windows 10 operating system with these sorts of antics. Forced upgrades of any sort are a pain.  We know this because even after you upgrade to Windows you are forced to upgrade on demand even when you do not have enough disk space.  Windows 10 wants to upgrade itself every morning and fills up our hard drive and then insists that it needs 5GB to install itself which the SSD slave drive does not have.

Frankly we hope that the TV Company sues Microsoft, because there does not seem to be any way to make the company understand that nagware on legitimate paid for software is just wrong.

How to LEGALLY Drive Without a License

'California Except' license plate on a Police car (also available for civilians, as you will see)
‘California Except’ license plate on a Police car (also available for civilians, as you will see)

How to drive without a license is an aspect of sovereignty that many people want to learn. Can you legally drive without a license?

by Makia Freeman

What is the difference between driving and traveling? Is driving a right or a privilege? What do you say to the policeman if you are stopped? How can you best handle unconstitutional checkpoints?

These are all important questions which we will explore here; if you want to know how to drive without a license, you’ll need to thoroughly master the concepts behind them.

Can you Legally Drive Without a License?

In short, yes – but technically you are traveling not driving (see below). However, just because you have a right to do something (in this case the right to travel), it does not mean you’ll never be hassled, intimidated, charged or even temporarily thrown in prison.

Rights must be constantly asserted and defended, especially in the face of a growing police state such as the one in which we are now living. That means you need to be prepared to defend yourself.

It’s not for everyone, but such is price paid by those who defend liberty and know how to drive without a license successfully.

What is the Difference between Driving and Traveling?

This might appear to be semantics or splitting hairs, but it’s not. The whole issue of how to drive without a license boils down to this. In everyday common English, to travel by means of a car, and to drive, are identical.

However, one of the biggest cons of the Law Society is the fact that they have their own language (legalese) which appears to be English but which has different definitions for some key terms.

Map Of Cannabis Genome Could Keep Greedy Corporations From Patenting Pot DNA

AnimationA new initiative could help keep agribusiness giants like Monsanto from controlling the future of cannabis by blocking patents.

PORTLAND, Oregon — An innovative digital map of the cannabis genome could help deepen scientific understanding of the plant, and it may also protect it from greedy corporations.

That’s the hope of Phylos Bioscience, a Portland-based company which recently launched The Phylos Galaxy. The app offers a 3D visualization of the relationship of hundreds of strains of cannabis, from the popular varieties sold in Oregon’s legal dispensaries to indigenous varieties found globally known as “landrace strains.”

Types are linked by their hereditary sequences to ancestor strains and visually grouped into “tribes” by their chemical and genetic similarities.

On April 23, Carolyn White, sales and marketing manager at Phylos, told the Willamette Week that her organization “set out to bring more knowledge and transparency to the industry” with the Galaxy and other efforts to document the diversity of the cannabis genome.

WikiLeaks’ On Panama Papers: ‘Everything Censored By Default’

“[I]t is threat to all to erect this as the ‘responsible’ way for media to behave,” a WikiLeaks representative declared on Twitter.

AUSTIN, Texas — WikiLeaks took to Twitter to criticize what the organization describes as the continued “censorship” of the Panama Papers archive by the organizations and reporters who control the contents of the leak.

The massive archive of 2.6 terabytes of financial data leaked from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca is controlled by German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, and hundreds of journalists who have been selected to write about the archive’s contents.

The Panama Papers exposed the efforts the world’s wealthiest people, including more than a dozen world leaders, take to hide their earnings from tax authorities. The release caused upheaval in Iceland’s government and protests in the United Kingdom.

A growing number of international authorities are demanding access to the archive, according to German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, including a German finance minister and representatives of the U.S. Justice Department. But ICIJ’s director told DW last week that they would reject these and all similar requests.

Dear Doctor: how to avoid blame for causing autism

by Jon Rappoport

Image1As the truth about horrendous vaccine-damage to babies emerges and spreads, doctors need advice on how to avoid blame. So this article is offered as a public service to the medical profession.

Dear Doctor, your best defense is: “I’m practicing proper medicine.” Always remember that. Don’t wobble. Don’t explain. Just keep saying it. It works. After all, you have decades of propaganda behind you. Make those lies operate for you. Stand on them. It’s your best strategy.

In your heart of hearts, you know you’re damaging the brains and nervous systems of many babies. But don’t give in. Just keep vaccinating them. Just keep the basic mantra going: “I’m practicing proper medicine.” Under no circumstances should you let conscience be your guide. That would put you in a world of trouble.

It’s useful, when necessary, when a baby is, say, on life support in intensive care after you vaccinated him/her, to accuse the parents. You assert the child is a victim of Shaken Baby Syndrome—and the unconscionable parents did the shaking. This puts them on the defensive, and potentially takes the case into the sinister arena of Child Protective Services, the agency that can remove a child from the home and place it in foster care as a ward of the State. The parents, who are already terrified because of what you did (vaccination), will be thrown into an even deeper vortex of fear. They will be less likely to speak out and blame you. Use your power.

Keep in mind that the parents can’t sue you or the vaccine manufacturer. Know you’re safe. The law mandates the only option: they go to the federal vaccine court, where they plead for compensation. That labyrinthine process could take years, during which time the parents will probably forget all about you. Feel safe and secure, because you are. Don’t get rattled. Move on.

If the word—you know the word—“autism” comes up, don’t give in to worry or fear. The Centers for Disease Control, essentially a PR front for the vaccine industry, has you well covered. They’ve slanted and cooked years and years of studies to show one and all that vaccines can’t cause autism. It’s a slam-dunk. You’re protected. Don’t argue. Don’t debate. Let the CDC back you up.

Russian Organic Wheat takes world by Storm, US GMO Glyphosate losing out!

putin_571a2929c36188fd698b4567The United States was once the world’s leading wheat exporter, but now is losing its position to Russia and Canada due a stronger dollar, stagnant yields, rising competition and … AND GMO

from RT:

According to analysts, exports of wheat may drop 9.3 percent to 21.1 million metric tons in the season ending May 31, the lowest since 1972.

“We’re no longer going to lead in volume every year,” said Alan Tracy, president of US Wheat Associates told Bloomberg, adding that an increase in global wheat trade was the only hope for the country.

Saudi Arabia Uncover And Arrest 9 CIA Agents Working For ISIS

CIA-ISIS-agents-arrested-680x350Russia have confirmed that Saudi authorities have arrested members of a known CIA-ISIS terror cell operating within their country. The arrests follow Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) giving intel to Saudi authorities that proved the CIA were actively funding and arming ISIS.

The arrests come weeks after President Putin warned Saudi Arabia that Russia had “finite patience” regarding their complicity with the US CIA in arming and funding ISIS militants in Syria and Iraq.

Whatdoesitmean.com reports:

Within the past 24 hours, this report continues, the GIP communicated to the SVR that based upon the Federation intelligence given to them under President Putin’s order, this known CIA-Islamic State terror network operating in Saudi Arabia was “targeted/raided” resulting in the capture of 33 of its members, 9 more still being hunted with substantial rewards announced for their capture, and, most importantly, the 9 American citizen CIA agents controlling these terrorist being placed under arrest and jailed.

With US officials having told Reuters News Service just hours ago that the Obama regime cannot immediately confirm that American citizens are among the 33 Islamic State terror suspects jailed by the GIP as they were still checking the names against their databases, this report further notes, it is the “known and accepted” practice of the CIA to never divulge the identity of their captured agents as they prefer to secretly negotiate for their release.

Monsanto Put On Trial In The Hague – For Crimes Against Humanity

hague_mon_FIThe, Organic Consumers Association (OCA), IFOAM International Organics, Navdanya, Regeneration International (RI), Millions Against Monsanto, joined by dozens of global food, farming and environmental justice groups will put Monsanto MON (NYSE), a US-based transnational corporation, on trial for crimes against nature and humanity, and ecocide, in The Hague, Netherlands, this year on World Food Day, October 16, 2016.

Since the beginning of the twentieth century according to the groups, Monsanto has developed a steady stream of highly toxic products which have permanently damaged the environment and caused illness or death for thousands of people.

These products include:

  • PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyl), one of the 12 Persistent Organic Pollutants (POP) that affect human and animal fertility
  • 2,4,5 T (2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid), a dioxin-containing component of the defoliant, Agent Orange, which was used by the US Army during the Vietnam War and continues to cause birth defects and cancer
  • Lasso (Alachlor), an herbicide that is now banned in Europe
  • RoundUp, the most widely used herbicide in the world, and the source of the greatest health and environmental scandal in modern history. This toxic herbicide, designated a probable human carcinogen by the World Health Organization, is used in combination with genetically modified (GM) RoundUp Ready seeds in large-scale monocultures, primarily to produce soybeans, maize and rapeseed for animal feed and biofuels.

Relying on the “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights” adopted by the UN in 2011, an international court of lawyers and judges will assess the potential criminal liability of Monsanto for damages inflicted on human health and the environment.

The court will also rely on the Rome Statute that created the International Criminal Court in The Hague in 2002, and it will consider whether to reform international criminal law to include crimes against the environment, or ecocide, as a prosecutable criminal offense.

The International Criminal Court, established in 2002 in The Hague, has determined that prosecuting ecocide as a criminal offense is the only way to guarantee the rights of humans to a healthy environment and the right of nature to be protected.

Boy, two, with brain cancer is ‘cured’ after secretly being fed medical marijuana by his father

article-1383240-0BE5885900000578-356_634x510A desperate father whose son was suffering from a life-threatening brain tumour has revealed he gave him cannabis oil to ease his pain. And he has now apparently made a full recovery.

Cash Hyde, known as Cashy, was a perfectly healthy baby when he was born in June 2008 but became sick shortly before his second birthday.

At first he was misdiagnosed with glandular fever before his parents Mike and Kalli, from Missoula in Montana, were given the devastating news he had a serious brain tumour.

The little boy had to have arduous chemotherapy treatment to reduce the growth, which had drastic side effects including seizures and a blood infection.

His distraught parents were repeatedly told he was likely to succumb to the illness because the condition was so bad.

After one bout of high-dose chemotherapy, Cash was so weak he could not lift his head and was too sick to eat any solid food for 40 days.

It was at this point that Mr Hyde decided to take action and go down the route of medical marijuana to try to help his young son.

Public increasingly blame government in junior doctors dispute

dsMost people oppose an open-ended withdrawal of labour by junior doctors – but a majority now blame the government for the ongoing contract dispute

Leaked emails sent last week by the chair of the British Medical Association, the doctors union, revealed that an indefinite junior doctors strike was among the options that may be considered if this week’s all-out strikes do not force Jeremy Hunt to re-open talks over the imposed new contract. Other options laid out included trainee medic resignations, junior doctors switching jobs and “alternative forms of permanent action”. Recently released figures showed 78% of junior doctors due in work did not show up yesterday, as they withdrew both routine and emergency care for the first time in NHS history.

New YouGov research for the Times reveals strong opposition to the idea of an indefinite walk-out by junior doctors. 59% say this would be the wrong thing to do, while 23% say it would be right. 39% of Labour voters say open-ended strikes would be right, while 44% say they would be wrong.

The public have been highly supportive of the ongoing wave of junior doctors strikes compared to industrial action in other sectors and the 2012 doctors strike over pensions, which was opposed by 62%. The majority of British people have supported junior doctors striking over the proposed new contract in four out of five YouGov polls on the issue.

And there is an increasing tendency to blame the government over the dispute. A majority (52%) now say the government is mostly to blame for the row over the contract (up from 48% in March and 45% in February).

New BLACK Chemtrails Reported Worldwide!

black-carbon-chemtrails-main-900x450Word of chemtrails has been pacing the internet for years, but if you were a person saying that they are fake, there will be no denying this. Black chemtrails are all over the skies, it is a new phenomenon with reports increasing world wide. You will not believe your eyes!

In the video below you will see other chemtrails not making a shadow directly beside one that is making a shadow, so the theories about shadows cannot be correct. The fact is, clouds cast shadows on the ground, not the sky, therefore, we do not see chemtrail shadows on the ground and we do not see cloud shadows in the sky. They spray a line of black and then go directly over the line and spray with white, making a shadow effect! It is absolutely crazy!

What are they spraying on us, and why has it become black instead of white? Please do not say that it is a passenger jet because it is much too big to be a normal passenger jet. Please watch the following video below, and you will not believe what you are seeing.

The Dark Side of Education: Former Teacher Reveals How Schools Create Empty Children

former-teacher-reveals-how-schools-create-empty-childrenA former teacher emphasizes the potential damage of the school system and reveals how it creates empty children.

Over the years, the school education system has been colorfully criticized by many. From authors to activists, and philosophers to artists, more and more personalities are voicing concern over the potential damage being caused to children growing up as empty children in the school environment.

One such personality is John Taylor Gatto, the winner of the New York Teacher of the Year award in 1990. Despite winning a highly competitive teaching award, not only did he quit teaching but he also went on to author a book, The Underground History of American Education in which he explicitly outlines his views on modern day teaching.

According to Gatto, schools are creating empty children, by teaching “a curriculum of confusion, class position, arbitrary justice, vulgarity, rudeness, disrespect for privacy, indifference to quality, and utter dependency.”

Below are some of the thought-provoking points he touches on:

“Keep children under surveillance every minute from dawn to dusk. Give no private space or time. Fill time with collective activities. Record behavior quantitatively.”

Not having sufficient private time or activities can not only hinder a child’s independent growth, but it can cause them to be overly reliant on others around them and will do absolutely nothing to improve their individual problem-solving skills. Constantly being watched will only add to this problem – many kids are shy by nature and will not feel comfortable expressing themselves in this type of environment. Furthermore, when there is not adequate data explaining in detail how a child behaves, there is no way of even understanding let alone helping the children to grow.

The Fluoride Wars: Loving Cancer and Loving Lower IQ

fluoride-water-cancer-672x350by Jon Rappoport

It’s no surprise that the US government would look the other way when lower IQ and cancer are business as usual.

One of the major agencies that would look the other way is the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

—But suppose scientists within the EPA spoke out, revolted, and issued official rebukes to their own Agency’s position on fluorides?

Talk about cognitive dissonance. Contradiction. “We at the EPA know fluorides are wonderful and safe and beautiful. Of course, our own scientists disagree. Strongly. But don’t worry, we’re ignoring them. And we’re keeping their statements out of the press. Our position on fluorides is administrative. It has nothing to do with science. Anyway, we support cancer and plummeting IQ. They’re wonderful.”

Case in point, going back 17 years. Buckle up. Here is what the EPA Union of scientists had to say about fluoridation:

Quoting from a May 1, 1999, statement— “Why EPA’s Headquarters Union of Scientists Opposes Fluoridation”—written by William Hirzy, PhD, [Union of Scientists] Senior Vice-President, Chapter 280:

“…our opposition to drinking water fluoridation has grown, based on the scientific literature documenting the increasingly out-of-control exposures to fluoride, the lack of benefit to dental health from ingestion of fluoride and the hazards to human health from such ingestion. These hazards include acute toxic hazard, such as to people with impaired kidney function, as well as chronic toxic hazards of gene mutations, cancer, reproductive effects, neurotoxicity, bone pathology and dental fluorosis.”

“In support of this concern are results from two epidemiology studies from China that show decreases in I.Q. in children who get more fluoride than the control groups of children in each study. These decreases are about 5 to 10 I.Q. points in children aged 8 to 13 years.”

Vladimir Putin Declares War on the Zionist Media

If you want something to do, just grab a microphone and start interviewing anyone you meet in the streets and ask him/her a simple question: “Have you ever heard of the bombing of the USS Liberty?” The answer may surprise you.

Vladimir-Putin-Declares-War-on-the-Zionist-MediaPutin is still stretching his political muscle. He has recently declared that there is an information war going on.

He said that for the past two years or so, the “Anglo-Saxon media” has done its best to demonize him.

In 2014, the Telegraph had an article entitled, “Europe should punish Vladimir Putin, not the City of London.”[1]

In the same article, we were told ad nauseam that Putin’s action is a stench to much of Europe.

Russia has finally got a chance to respond.

Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, said:

“They say that Russia has a bad public image. Do you know who else now has a bad image – the United States. We are currently in a state of information warfare with the trend-setters in the information space, most notably with the Anglo-Saxons, their media.”[2]

Peskov is far more logical than his enemies and detractors here. He moves on to say:

“Look at the pressure on our media in some European countries. I’m not talking about the states that recently joined the EU, like the Baltic States with their strong anti-Russian sentiment. It’s a different story, time heals all the wounds.

“Now, take the Brits. They put a lot of pressure on RT for [the channel’s] editorial policy – that actually amounts to nothing but indirect censorship. We constantly come under fire for alleged censorship in our country, but when we come under pressure in other countries, one simply turns a blind eye to it.”[3]

UK Junior Doctors strike – news

by Dr Ravi Jayaram

Consultant paediatrician Dr Ravi Jayaram
Consultant paediatrician Dr Ravi Jayaram

I have kept quiet on here until now about the junior doctor’s strike but the time has come to stand up and say what needs to be said. Apologies in advance for the long essay, I will try to keep it simple. This is aimed at those of you who are not medical; those who are will know exactly what I am talking about.

If you simply believe what is said in the media, you might think that this is all about Saturday pay or even that junior doctors don’t want to work at nights or weekends. It is depressing to overhear people express these views but hardly surprising given the public coverage of the issue.

So what exactly is going on? A junior doctor is any doctor who is not a GP or consultant who is in training to be one of those two. Most doctors spend 8-9 years as a junior but many stay as juniors for longer, especially female doctors who may take time out for families, academics who take time out to do research and doctors in specialities where training in two specialties is needed such as paediatric intensive care. I myself spent 14 years as a junior doctor so was still one aged 37. Junior doctors are the doctors you will see first when you go to A&E or get admitted to a ward and will be responsible for delivering your day to day care when you are in hospital. Junior doctors are covering the hospital 24/7, 365 days a year and always have done. And contrary to what you might believe from the papers, they don’t have any choice in the matter, their contracts say they have no choice in working evenings, nights and weekends.

So what is all the fuss about? Well it is about being able to be safe. When I was a JD, I used to work ridiculous hours. In one job in my 1st year, every 3rd weekend I would go to work at 9am on a Saturday and leave at 5pm on a Tuesday. That was 80 hours in a row with sleep grabbed when the chances arose. It was dangerous and dehumanising and the even crazier thing was that I was actually paid at a lower rate for the unsocial hours than basic pay (1/3 of basic in fact).

Fortunately my generation of juniors was amongst the last to have to do that and things slowly changed. Now junior doctors get paid at a higher rate than basic for unsocial hours, that rate determined by the intensity of work in that specialty e.g. emergency room work would be a higher rate than dermatology. Standard hours are defined as 7am-7pm Monday to Friday (which are not exactly standard working hours for most people) and there are rules on the maximum number of hours per week and consecutive hours that can be worked. There are also safeguards in place so that if employers are consistently making juniors work beyond these rules, they can be fined; hence there is a disincentive for employers to overwork junior doctors, therefore they are not tired and dangerous 1990-style.

But work done outside standard hours is NOT overtime. These hours are contracted hours and have to be worked and, quite rightly, are paid at a higher rate than basic pay. In specialties where there is not a lot of emergency work, the majority of work is in routine hours, but areas like A&E, paediatrics, intensive care have a lot of work done in unsocial hours and attract a higher rate of pay for those hours. I stress again that this is not overtime; overtime is work done in addition to contracted hours. All doctors and nurses do overtime – staying late to complete work and ensure patient safety and very rarely if ever does anyone claim for these overtime hours.

But Jeremy Hunt wants to change the contract for junior doctors, his logic being that doing this will help to deliver the “7-day NHS”. Nobody is really sure what exactly this means. It may mean that he wants routine services such as outpatient clinics and planned surgery or scans for non-urgent problems to take place on Saturdays and Sundays, not just Monday to Friday. If this is the case then changing the juniors’ contract is not going to make this happen as without doing the same for (deep breath) consultants, nurses, porters, receptionists, pharmacists, operating department assistants, radiographers, physiotherapists and many other staff these things won’t be able to happen at weekends.

The 7-day NHS may refer to emergency work. If this is the case then it already exists. Junior doctors are already there at night and at weekends. The proposed contract changes are not going to change the numbers who are there as there is no plan to increase the total number of junior doctors. What is proposed is that the definition of normal time changes from 7am-7pm to 7am-10pm Monday to Friday and from 7am to somewhere between 5pm and 10pm on Saturday. This means that employers could make junior doctors work more unsocial hours as they have redefined as standard hours. It is true that the basic rate of pay for standard hours will be increased by 13%, which sounds great doesn’t it? Except that for the emergency specialties as above that routinely have a lot of evening, night and weekend work, what is currently paid at an enhanced rate will be paid at standard rate; even at 13% higher for standard rate, total pay for junior doctors in these specialties will drop considerably, maybe by as much 30% for some. Doesn’t sound so good now really.

And, of course, there will be the same number of doctors but spread over 7 days rather than 5 so there will be weekdays where there will be fewer juniors than there are now. A great analogy I heard was to imagine that you have a 10-inch pizza cut into 5 slices. You decide that 5 slices isn’t going to fill you up so your mum cuts the same pizza into 7 slices and tells you that you’ll be full with that. But she won’t get you a bigger pizza.

So same number of junior doctors spread more thinly is going to reduce cover on weekdays as compared to now. And weekdays are when not only emergency work but also routine planned work that also needs input from junior doctors takes place so this will have a detrimental effect on waiting lists for clinics and operations as well.

Junior doctors with children will be hit particularly hard, especially those who have junior doctors spouses, as more unsocial hours will be worked. Childcare is generally difficult to get hold of outside of 8-5 on weekdays; the department of health have actually said (with no hint of irony) that in this situation, family members who are non-medical and don’t work evenings or weekends should be asked to provide child care to get over this problem! It is very likely that couples could go several days without actually seeing each other or their families if rotas do not coincide.

But what about the increased deaths at weekends we have been hearing about? Actually, the statistics have been completely misrepresented and even the authors of the research paper that gets quoted regularly have pointed this out. The statistic was that if you are admitted to hospital on a weekend, your risk of dying within 30 days of that admission was higher than if admitted midweek. Your risk of dying is very low anyway and that very low risk is marginally higher (but still very low) if admitted on weekends. This is probably because admissions to hospital in the week consist of not only sick people but also well people coming in for routine things, whereas at weekends you would tend to avoid hospital unless you were desperately unwell and most likely would leave things as long as possible and so be sicker when you got there. Interestingly they also showed that if you were already in hospital on a weekend, having been admitted in the week, your risk of death within 30 days was lower than it would have been. Either way, there is no evidence of cause and effect in terms of numbers of junior doctors around at weekends. The so-called weekend effect has also been seen in the USA and Australia too so it isn’t peculiar to state-funded health as opposed to private insurance-based systems.

Interestingly the misrepresentation of this study has led to ill people actually avoiding hospitals on weekends and delaying presenting till Monday with potentially devastating consequences. Have a look online for the ‪#‎hunteffect‬. Scary.

Another worrying thing about the proposed new contract is that it takes away the safeguards against juniors being made to work ridiculously long hours. Whereas currently there is a mechanism that makes it in the interests of an employer to ensure the hours are not exceeded, the new contract removes these safeguards. It does suggest that each hospital trust has a “guardian” to whom junior doctors can flag up concerns about their hours but this “guardian” will also be a senior member of the trust who has no obligation to actually do anything about these concerns. I think back to my days as an exhausted junior doctor and it scares me to think that such unsafe and dangerous hours could make a return.

The pay scales are also changing. There has been automatic pay progression as you gain experience and seniority until now. The new system means that there are fewer points where pay is raised. This is not necessarily a bad thing as it can be argued that you shouldn’t get a pay rise unless you deserve it. But remember that over 10 years can be spent as a junior doctor in which time you are likely to acquire husbands, wives, children and mortgages; many existing junior doctors have made their financial plans for the next few years based on the expectation that there will be pay progression. One part-time junior doctor who has worked with me told me that if the new contract came in she would no longer be able to pay her mortgage and would have to sell her home. Bear in mind that these are young people who have spent at least 5 years at university accruing debts from both student loans for living expenses and now also £45000 in tuition fees before even starting work. The new pay scales do not reflect the levels of responsibility taken by junior doctors at different stages of their training at all which makes no sense whatsoever. For female doctors who are likely to take time out to have children and then return to work part-time, the consequences on their income will be huge. The department of health actually acknowledged that women would be hit unfairly but suggested that this had to be accepted as an unfortunate consequence.

The BMA junior doctors committee walked out of talks with the department of health because the DH’s definition of negotiation was that they would reserve the right to do what they wanted if they didn’t agree with what the committee was suggested. In other words, they did not want to negotiate so there was not point in the BMA trying. This is why industrial action was proposed because there was no other way to try to get Jeremy Hunt to talk. Sadly, even when negotiations restarted, he could not see that without a bigger pizza nothing was going to improve patient care and in fact things would be worse and so talks stopped. He has now said he is imposing the contract and that is that, he won’t talk anymore. When a strike ballot (of, let’s face it, intelligent reasonable and educated people) has a 75% turnout and 98% vote in favour, it is clear that there is a serious problem with the DH’s thought processes and they need to listen. It is highly improbable that a small bunch of radical lefties have brainwashed 50000 intelligent doctors who have been trained to analyse information and draw conclusions, much as the press like that idea.

If you have read this far, please take it on board and share with your friends. I’ve tried to keep it simple (even though it may not seem that way!) The public is not getting the full story from the TV and newspapers and if this contract is imposed then we will all be on the receiving end of the consequences eventually.

I’ll stop there for now but will write some more about what will happen on the days of the full strike (April 26th and 27th) and why you should not have to worry about what may happen on those days if you or your family have to come to hospital.
